P H U K E T // D A Y O N E !

The long awaited trip for this holiday! Woke up early in the morning to catch our flight to Phuket. We were really excited about it, but everything turned out to be out of our expectation. The flight to Phuket is about an hour plus, and we landed around 9am (Thailand timing). We were so lost after arriving at their airport, totally have no idea where should we get a transport to the airport. The cab to the hotel is at such an exorbitant price. It costs 800Baht to travel from the airport to the hotel, and that cost almost S$40. Since it was only the first day, we seek the alternative by taking the minibus, which is shared among 10 passengers. This is how it works; the bus will only leave after they have gathered 10 passengers onboard. So we had to wait for quite awhile before we can leave the airport. It costs only 180Baht to take the minibus to Patong area and the journey is about an hour plus.

Finally arrived at the hotel, and the hotel that we stayed in for the next 5 days is Burasari Resort Hotel. After getting down the minibus, we were greeted by the friendly staffs from the hotel. Upon the arrival to the hotel lobby, we were served with welcome drinks. Totally didn’t expect it. Since it was a weekday, the hotel wasn’t fully booked so we were allowed to check in earlier than the stipulated timing. And we were also given a free upgrade of our room from the Premium room to the Elite Room. All the drinks in the room were also free during the stay. Given the amount we had paid for the hotel, I think everything is so much better than expected.
We headed right out after unpacking and all to get our lunch fixed. Can’t imagine the weather in Phuket is as hot as that in Singapore. It took us quite awhile to decide what to have for lunch. In the end, we settled ourselves with Japanese food. Went walking around to explore the streets and shops there. Seemingly the same as Bali but I guess not really the kind of place that I would really like to go. Walking rounds and rounds and finally reached the shopping mall in that area. Better than what I had pictured it to be in my mind. Because both of us were rather lazy after awhile, we decided that we should just head back to the hotel and just relaxed and soak ourselves in the swimming pool.
There is a fruit juice and salad bar located right outside of our hotel, and it was so convenient that I could easily grab a juice from there every single day!

Because it’s Thailand, we were restricted to the food that we were able to eat. Whenever it comes to having a meal, we will take quite a long time to decide. Glad that the both of us have similar eating pattern which includes our liking of food and food that we don’t eat. We had steamboat as our dinner at the MK Restaurant located in the shopping mall. Portions were rather small and not exactly satisfying. So we are gonna have a steamboat feast soon! It was still quite early after the dinner, so we decided to walk to the Bangala Street, where the nightlife of the place is, to have a look of everything. It is a whole stretch of pubs and clubs, with people constantly trying to sell the services. It was quite an eye-opener for me though, but because I was too tired for the night, in the end we headed back to the hotel to rest for the day.
