Finally done up my HK trip summary!
Boyfriend and I went for a 5D4N trip to Hongkong last December!
This is also the first time we sit an airplane together! Can't
describe how excited we were to travel together. Our flight was supposed to be
7.05am so we left Kaohsiung by bus around 1030 reaching Taoyuan International
Airport before 4am! The weather in Taipei was extremely cold and both of us
were freezing. It was a long wait at the airport before we could check in. But
thankfully, the staff was nice enough to ask if we would like to change our
flight to the earlier one. Of course we accepted it without much hesitation.
So, we rushed to the boarding gate immediately after having our flight changed.
Even though we had our flight changed, but we only managed to reach our hotel
around 10 and what's worse was we couldn't check in until 2pm. We had no
other choice but to leave our luggage at the reception while we went out to
explore a little.
Upon stepping out of the MTR in HK, we were quite shocked to see
everyone rushing to everywhere. Everything is so fast paced that we didn’t like
it at all. The thought we had in our mind immediately was why does it feel like
Singapore or maybe faster than that of Singapore.
We headed down to Tsim Sha Tsui to explore a little while waiting
for time to pass before checking in. Hongkong is a quite a messy place with
signboards everywhere and they do have many same jewellery shops after every
other lane. We were quite lost initially but glad that we managed to find our
way after a few days there. Finally managed to check in to our room but we were
super shocked to see the small hotel room that we were going to stay in for the
next 4 nights. We barely have space to open our luggage and the bed was so
small. It seems like we booked a single bedroom instead of a double bedroom.
Unpacked, washed up and we headed out to Victoria Peak thereafter. It took us
more than an hour to make our way up to the peak. Only to realize that we had
taken the wrong route so we rushed down immediately to the bus terminal to
catch the bus up to the peak. The weather in HK was sooooo cold that we can’t
help shivering when we were at the peak.
Our OOTD!
Day 2
Woke up excitedly to go to
Ocean Park. Before that, we headed to this awesome brunch place at Queensway
Plaza or something at Admiralty called Simply Life. They served great brunch
and it was damn filling and I think the price was pretty reasonable. Took a bus
down to Ocean Park and I think I feel like a kid going there. The place was
pretty big, and my legs gave in to it after a few hours of walking. If not for
the weather, I guess we would have taken the rides. All the rides look so
thrilling and I wouldn’t mind trying it if I get a chance to go there again.
Other than that, the rest of the things were just normal. Anyway, that was also my first time sitting in a cable car!
We though that we should get some nice food for dinner so we headed to Tim Ho
Wan! The wait was quite long but still quite reasonable I guess. Both of us
were bloated and tired after our dinner.
Day 3
Both of us were so tired from
the previous day that we were quite reluctant to wake up that morning. Since
there was no particular place that we had in mind to visit so we just slept in.
We decided to go for some shopping at Mongkok area but I guess it was quite a
bad timing since it was a weekend. But there was no other choice so we squeezed
with the crowd. Managed to loot back quite a number of clothes from common
shopping places like H&M, Forever 21 and Mango. Then to realize the prices
in HK is actually comparable to that of SG. That didn’t stop me from buying
anyway. Besides shopping at Langham Place, which is where H&M is located,
we also went for some teabreak at Honolulu Coffee Place. It serves nice egg
tarts and ice milk tea. Both of us gobbled down 2 egg tarts each after walking
for the whole day. Glad that we made a special trip down just to have the egg
tart and the trip was definitely worth it! One other thing I like about HK is
their food! Especially those char siew rice and egg tarts!
Day 4
It was the second last day of
our trip so we decided to just walk around and go to places that we have not
been too. Wanted to go to Australian Dairy Milk for breakfast but it was
closed. After breakfast, we wanted to go Tsim Sha Tsui to get cookies from
Jenny Bakery. BUT, the queue was exceptionally long! I guess if we were to queue
it would probably take us 2-3 hours just to get that tin of cookies. Always
wanted to try it as it was highly raved by many bloggers and friends! In the
end, we changed our mind and went to Hang Hueng to get some lao po bing back
for our friends in TW. Walking aimlessly and happened to pass by the Star
Ferry. The Star Ferry Terminal holds great view and it’s one of the best places
to have photos taken. The photos we took were not that beautiful because of the
hazy weather. Walking down and reached the Clock Tower coincidentally. We
wanted to go there during the night but always didn’t have time to drop by. The
view during the daytime is as good as the night view that I have seen on the
Internet! Headed back to Mongkok with the intention to catch a movie but the
shows that were available was quite limited so we gave it a miss. Since it was
going to be the last night, we decided to go around and try to complete the
list of foods that were recommended by our friends. And was really glad that we
went to Mongkok for dinner! Because we managed to find this shopping mall that
sells all the cheap clothes!! And most of them are those that I have seen on
the blogshops! Suddenly, I just feel like sweeping everything home but we had
already spent most of our money since it was already the last night. We managed
to locate the nearest DBS Bank and headed there to withdraw some cash to
continue with the shopping. Glad that I managed to sweep back some clothes at a
much lower price! Tiring but happy day before heading back to TW the next day.
Day 5
We were both drained out by
the end of the trip. Woke up, packed up, and headed down to the shop downstairs
to have our last meal. Headed down to airport right after checking out and
trying to spend finish our last buck of HKD.
I guess I won’t be going back
to HK anytime soon. For me, it’s not a place I will miss going back to.
Shopping in HK seems almost the same as SG, and the price of the food are also
the same as SG. But will definitely miss the nice food around! That pretty much
sums up our 5D4N trip to HK. Thankful to have boyfriend as my travel companion,
to always helping me to carry my shopping bags and shopping together with me!
